About Kim
Kim Randall was born in Auckland in 1983, she grew up embracing the rural kiwi life, surrounded by nature. Kim has always had a passion for art from a very young age, she studied art extensively through school and during tertiary education she studied interior design whilst furthering her fine art skills with painting and drawing classes. She completed a bachelor of design in 2007 and then practised as an interior designer in Auckland with an architectural firm. Kim spent two years in Europe working and travelling whilst taking many photographs as her creative outlet. Since returning home to New Zealand in April 2012 she has been focused on following her passion as an artist. She spent four years at Lake House Arts Centre gaining many skills in arts administration, in 2013 she had a successful first solo exhibition at Lake House titled ‘Moments of Equanimity’. In 2015 Kim had a week long pop up store to showcase her artwork and connect with the public at Ponsonby Central in Auckland. In August 2016 Kim became a full time artist in order to develop her art practice to its full potential. Shortly after this decision her and her partner embarked on an amazing opportunity to design and build their first home together in the middle of the native NZ bush. Utilising her design skills, Kim drew up the plans which also included space for an art studio. Achieving a lot of the build themselves and living in a hut on site for a period of time, she found time and space where ever she could to keep creating commissions and art for her website. Kim lives with her partner and rescue dog Kaia, now settled and working full time on her art again from her new home art studio in Albany, Auckland. Kim has exhibited with Lake House, Estuary & Mairangi Arts Centre. She has also had work shown and sold at Next Door Gallery, The Upstairs Gallery and Artfusions, Carmel College. Kim has created commissions for private residences in New Zealand and The United States and has also had been involved in commercial projects including a story board wall painting for Bluejay’s Garden Bar & Kitchen, Remuera and creative window installations for Blaze Hair Salon in New Market. |
